The Bodega Bay Tide Pool Trips gave students a hands-on lesson in marine life and ecology. Under the guidance of their teachers, K–8 learners carefully explored the rocky shore, peering into tide pools teeming with sea stars, sea anemones, and other creatures. Armed with clear observation containers, they gently lifted and examined specimens—touching the spiny arms of starfish and observing sea urchins clinging to barnacle-covered rocks—before returning each organism safely. This immersive field experience not only reinforced classroom lessons about marine biology but also inspired curiosity, stewardship, and a lifelong love of nature.
